I had been wanting to talk about the so-called paper or electronic ink for a long time and I have finally decided. The fact is that in my opinion this technology is destined to revolutionize the world of both mobile and home devices. To put ourselves a little into the situation, electronic ink is currently capable of representing static images (no movement) in color or black and white (depending on the manufacturer). Of course the novelty is that the “screen” is a little thicker than regular paper.
Added to these characteristics are flexibility and maneuverability, so to speak, they can be rolled or folded without losing their properties, which makes them very attractive on some occasions. Furthermore, production costs are not exaggeratedly high contrary to what one might expect, so much so that not long ago a famous magazine Americana took the pleasure of making a circulation whose cover was made with this material, selling it at the same price as always.
Se me ocurren miles de aplicaciones prácticas para usar esta tecnología, dejando de lado las obvias, como pueden ser pantallas de portátiles, tablets, mp4s…, en mi opinión lo bonito sería aplicarla de manera innovadora y extravagante. Hace ya mucho que ví un posible ejemplo en Xataca, de un teléfono(por llamarlo de alguna forma) cuya pantalla era capaz de enrollarse en su interior, lo cual hacía el teléfono muy manejable y reducía su tamaño al quitar la pantalla si no la estabas usando.
