Reproducir vídeos en alta definición en Xbox 360 y PS3, aunque de partida podría parecer una tarea imposible, en realidad no lo es. Hasta hace algún tiempo, mi salida del percal era conectar directamente el portátil a la tele, pero llegó un momento que resultaba molesto tener que enchufar y desenchufar cables, así que opté por la opción de ver las series y películas en calidad estándar (SD) incrustándoles los subtítulos manualmente para poder verlos en la Xbox 360.
The From the start, it is completely unfeasible to embed the subtitles in the “mkv” and then convert it to “avi” because it takes too long, and precisely what I am looking for is speed.
Luckily, thanks to the wonders of streaming, we can easily set up a server to broadcast the video directly to the console, allowing us not to have to convert it or embed the subtitles. The optimal solution I have found is called PS3 Media Server and although it is not pretty, it fulfills its functions perfectly. We just have to run it on our computer and access the videos from the console in the usual way.
If we want to add subtitles, we will only have to place them in the same folder as the video, give them the same name (be careful, the extension must be left) and PS3 Media Server will take care of everything by itself. Additionally, as soon as we run it we can customize some things, such as the folders we want to share with the Xbox 360/PS3, choose the number of audio channels or configure it as a system service so that it works alone.
