Sliders, or Salto al Infinito as it was broadcast in Spain, is a series that I remember with special affection, since it brings back memories of when I was in the second year of ESO. The first time I saw it was, I think, on a Saturday or Sunday morning on La 2, and the rest of the episodes every afternoon from Monday to Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Infinity Leap was a science fiction series in which its protagonist, Quinn Mallory (Jerry OāConell), a Physics student at the University of California, discovered a way to move between parallel universes through wormholes. Each universe had its own versions of each of the main characters: Quinn, Wade Welles (Sabrina Lloyd), Quinnās partner and possibly platonic love, Maximillian Arturo (John Rhys-Davies), Quinnās teacher and prestigious British physicist, and Rembrandt Brown (Cleavant Derricks), a Soul musician who is accidentally swallowed by one of the holes.
The plot of the series basically consisted of the charactersā attempts to return to their Universe, but always with disastrous results (I will never forget the episode in which they leave their own universe because the garden gate did not creak), although always with a touch of humor.
The chapter scripts were simply great. Every time they are transported to another dimension, the place where they āfallā is always around the city of San Francisco, but everything else is different. Some of the strangest situations I remember are a world dominated by communism, another in which humans are monkeys, another in which there are dinosaurs, one in which a meteorite is going to hit the earth and they create a giant wormhole to transport as many people as possible, etc.
On La 2 they broadcast the first 3 seasons (this last one has a disconcerting ending), but there are two more that never saw the light of day in Spain. It is now broadcast on the Sci-Fi channel.
