Este sĂĄbado tuve la suerte de poder ver la nueva pelĂcula de Steven Spielberg y George Lucas, despuĂ©s de muchos dĂas de espera tras su estreno (dos). La verdad es que iba al cine esperando ver una pelĂcula de acciĂłn al estilo de los años 90, con sus persecuciones, peleas y por supuesto âgagsâ tĂpicos de las pelĂculas de Indiana Jones. Y Ă©so es exactamente lo que he encontrado.
Iâm not going to stop and summarize the movie, because I know that you all know what itâs about (Either youâve already seen it, or youâve read something about it, or it was spoiled for you on the news), so Iâm simply going to give my opinion of it, because despite it being good, itâs not perfect, and it seems that Spielberg (or the scriptwriters) went a bit overboard in certain scenes that donât seem entirely appropriate to me for an Indiana Jones movie.
One of these scenes is that of the atomic bomb. I found it too exaggerated and difficult to believe. I know that some will think that as an action scene it is fine, and I donât argue with it, but not for an Indiana Jones movie⊠Itâs like the scene in Die Hard 4.0 in which he shoots down a helicopter with a car. You just think âthey went overboard here.â
Luckily, there is one element of the Indiana Jones movies that remains intact and deserves a separate mention: the sense of humor. Nowadays it is very difficult for someone to make you laugh in an action movie, and this one does it several times throughout the film (the quicksand moment, simply brilliant :) ).
In addition, the film has memorable moments âmade in Spielbergâ, such as the motorcycle chase through the city, the fist fight with the Russian colonel or the car âraceâ through the jungle.
Regarding the plot, perhaps what is missing is the charisma that relics such as The Ark of the Covenant and The Holy Grail had, which gives it (in my opinion) a less mystical and mysterious touch than that of its predecessors. Furthermore, possibly the plot thread is too linear and quite predictable, although it is difficult to make comparisons with the rest of the films in the saga because I am not the same age as when I saw them, and everything from childhood is remembered with special affection.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a good film that has made me relive childhood sensations, and that is something to be appreciated in todayâs cinema, which usually sacrifices everything in favor of special effects. So my recommendation is that, if you have the opportunity, watch it, because, as I say, it is a good action movie in the style of the 90s.
