It was easy to fall into the same mistakes as the first part, but Epic had the great idea of asking fans what aspects they would improve about the game. With this, the quality of the game increases exponentially in all aspects, and I assure you that it would have been very easy to disappoint me because my expectations were very high.
Possibly one of the weakest aspects of the first part, since it gave the impression that the only thing you did was go from one place to another without knowing the reasons. However, in Gears of War 2 we are explained that 6 months after what happened in the first game, the war is at a critical point, since the humans’ forces are so depleted that they cannot cope. Therefore they decide to make one last attack on the main city of the locust: Nexus. Also, Dom is looking for his wife, who has been missing for a while and leads to one of the most dramatic parts of the game (hats off to its execution, simply brilliant). It has quite a few ins and outs that are left in the air and enough things for a more than safe third part (At the end of the credits there is a surprise).

If there is something in which Gears of War stands out, it is in the playable section, since with few buttons it allows you to do countless things and the learning curve is minimal, although it is true that those who have played the first part start with an advantage. There are many new weapons and some old ones have been turned into something useful (yes, I’m talking about the locust machine gun). Gears of War 2 is much longer than its predecessor, perfectly reaching 12 hours in length, which is not long at all, and this in an action game is of great importance since it is very easy to fall into monotony. They also increase the proportions of the battles, since the Boomers from the first part are nothing next to the Reavers, Brumaks and, above all, riders on the backs of deformed bugs (for me, they are the most difficult to kill by far).

As I say, in an action game like this it is very easy to fall into monotony and although the mechanics are still that of hide and shoot, there are some levels in which we will put ourselves at the controls of vehicles, some on rails and others not that give a lot of variety to the game, and let it all be said, they have nothing to do with the Krill part of the first part (we will have real weapons).
In the sound section, the game would not have any drawbacks except for the volume of the voices in certain conversations, which is exaggeratedly low.
As for the online mode, the new Horde mode is a real joy (if you have companions who are not useless). It basically consists of withstanding the greatest number of waves of Locust, in the style of the “Tower Defense” of Warcraft 3 and Starcraft.
In short, and to finish, I would like to say that everyone who liked the first Gears of War will enjoy the triple with Gears of War 2, as it contains enough improvements and new features to consider it a more than worthy second part.
