Hace menos de un año que sigo Battlestar Galactica. En realidad, cuando empecé a verla ya estaban emitiendo en Estados Unidos la cuarta temporada de la misma, de la que hasta entonces no había visto más que imágenes y críticas (algunas buenas y otras malas). Decidí darle una oportunidad, ya que por aquel entonces la única serie que seguía era Perdidos y mis poros rezumaban tiempo libre.
The series began airing in 2003 on the Sci.Fi channel, and is a remake of its counterpart from the 70s** (which starred Dirk Benedic, whom many of you will know for his role as Templeton Peck in The A-Team) and, as I say, it is in its fourth (and final) season.
It tells the story of a universe in which the human race has advanced so much in technology that it has been able to create thinking robots. As it could not be otherwise, these robots (called Cylons) one day decide to rebel and a war begins, the so-called “First Cylon War”, which ends when humans and Cylons decide to recapitulate and the Cylons disappear into the universe without anything being heard from them again… until 40 years later.

Only a few ships, including the Battle Star Galactica (a warship about to retire) are able to save themselves from the attack, and from that moment on they are forced to escape from the Cylon fleet throughout the universe, searching along the way for the thirteenth human colony: Earth.
Sin embargo, los cylones han evolucionado, y han descubierto la forma de parecerse físicamente a los humanos, y, lo que es peor, han adquirido la capacidad de trasvasar su conciencia cuando se mueren a un nuevo cuerpo, por lo que son prácticamente inmortales.
In very broad strokes, this is the panorama that the series presents to us, to which we should add the problems of government and coexistence that can be expected from a human society.
And it hooks, boy does it hook. I caught up on 4 seasons in less than a month (my girlfriend can confirm this). So, if you want to discover new series and you like the science fiction genre, I invite you to give Battlestar Galactica a chance, because it will not disappoint you (or it will, who knows…)
