Avatar, la reciĂ©n estrenada pelĂcula de James Cameron tras 12 años en el dique seco. DespuĂ©s de ver la pelĂcula, me quedan claras dos cosas: la primera, que Cameron no dirigiĂł ninguna pelĂcula en tanto tiempo porque debĂa estar enganchado al World of Warcraft y la segunda, que el cine que supuestamente reinventaban con esta pelĂcula y que nos querĂan vender como un avance tecnolĂłgico sin precedentes, es una chufa.
Avatar tells the story of a soldier who is assigned to a planet called Pandora, who is assigned the mission of remotely commanding an âAvatarâ, a hybrid body between humans and the natives of that planet, to gain their trust and convince them to leave their home since it is located on a huge mineral mine.
While I was watching Avatar, references to many movies and video games kept coming to mind. The most notable of these references is Pocahontas, which tells the same story (saving the spatial and temporal distances). The combat exoskeletons seem like an evolution of those we once saw in Matrix Revolution. The ships and vehicles look like they came out of the Halo saga video games (there is even a moment where a Warthog is seen). World of Warcraft is present throughout the story, in the form of colorful settings.
As I said at the beginning of this article, if 3D technology in cinema is what is seen in this film, I should get my money back, because apart from a certain depth in some scenes, the feeling of immersion is minimal, even becoming annoying on some occasions, such as when you try to look at an out-of-focus object and you strain your eyes because you actually have to look somewhere else. I donât think we should try to change each personâs personal way of watching movies, because while some observe what they have in the foreground, others like to pay attention to the details.
To the question of whether the film is worth seeing, I answer with a resounding yes, but you should not expect any masterpiece as I have already read in some places. It is an enjoyable film, with good special effects, a good soundtrack and sounds, which can be seen and the epic it tells is entertaining; It is a film to see in the cinema.
Finally, I would like to record the lack of respect that some have, that in a cinema full of people they start smoking joints, something that I find irritating and a tremendous lack of education towards others. I guess they couldnât wait for the movie to end or the 10-foot blue aliens would make them nervous.
