Mission Accomplished

As I initially assumed and everything pointed to it, the hard drive was screwed and was the cause of the computer’s tremendous slowness (despite the technician’s denials). Also as I imagined, it was not easy to make the people at the store see reason to change it for me; According to them it was Windows’ fault because the Mac part was going well. This is not entirely correct, because when moving large files or downloading updates it was also very slow (I realize this now) although I attributed it to network problems.

I had to hire AppleCare as a precaution and thanks to the diagnostic program that Apple provides called TechTool, more than 21 errors have appeared on the surface of the disk, right in the part of it that is used to install Windows when partitioning (which is always the same and that is why it always gave more errors in Windows).

Luckily, they reimbursed me for the 70 euros initially charged for an erroneous diagnosis and in the end the whole fuss came under warranty.

Moral: If you are studying hard drives, your hard drive starts to give you problems and you think that the symptoms correspond to a hard drive problem, you have a very good chance that it is actually a hard drive problem. Not Windows.
