Monster Truck Nitro is the latest game from RedLynx, creators of the famous Trials HD, who have now gone to 4 wheels with monster trucks, which are the famous cars with gigantic wheels that are seen in many shows.
The game was first released for iPhone, and is now available for Mac and PC as well. In our case we analyzed the version for Mac, available through the App Store for a price of €2.99.
The purpose of Monster Truck Nitro is simple, overcome a circuit full of obstacles with our car (of a total of 3 available) until you reach the end, trying to get the best possible time. Depending on our result we will be awarded a bronze, silver or gold medal. Getting to unlock a racing car if we get gold in all the tests. It has 25 possible levels, which will increase in difficulty.
The controls are very simple, we accelerate with the up arrow, we reverse with the down arrow and use the “Nitro” when we have it available with the control key. We can also perform pirouettes by turning the car with the side arrows.
For my taste there are three points that seem somewhat weak in the game:
- Include a track editor, so that people could spend their time building impossible circuits, since the 25 in the game will end up tiring.
- Give more advantage to pirouettes, since in the current version, they simply slow you down. An extra speed would be nice when landing well from a pirouette.
- Include time markers to have fun with friends.

- Graphics: The graphics are great, perhaps not the best in the app store but considering that it is a €2.99 game, they are pretty good. 7
- Duration and Engagement: The game is very engaging, it is a shame that it is somewhat short due to lack of levels. 7
- Final Note: A good game, to have a fun time and if they expand in the future, they will achieve a great product. 7
