Nail'd a frenetic arcade

/ bocabit / videojuegos

The first thing that catches your attention about Nail’d is the speed at which you run because it is tremendously high, but contrary to what you might think, the controls are correct and at no time does it cause the sensation of not having control of our vehicle or of going on rails in the style of Sonic games, in which the speed is so high that everything is executed in a “semi-automatic” way. However, this speed causes the game, despite not having bad graphics, to look strange at first glance, which may be caused because the framerate is not as high as it should be.

Nail’d has some large and detailed scenarios, with a multitude of shortcuts and ways to get from one point to another on the circuit, but they are largely marred due to the little variety of game modes (multiplayer and campaign) and also the little variety in the type of tests: races or the occasional points. The races become too long because in most cases you have to do three laps, which seems excessive considering the length of the circuits.

The variety of actions in the game is quite limited and you can only accelerate, brake, tilt the bike forward and backward during jumps and activate the nitro. This last point is one of those that does not allow us to enjoy the game more than we should, since it is an essential element if we want to win the races but it deprives us of being able to enjoy the scenarios (possibly the best thing about the game) because it puts the screen in black and white and with blur.

In the sound section, the game has a good, metal OST, with songs by groups like Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age, Deftones or Rise Against, although it feels like some songs are repeated too much.

In short, Nail’d is an arcade without major pretensions, which can be short and somewhat monotonous if what we expect are customization options and varied game modes. It’s fun to play a couple of games from time to time in any free time we have.

Edited: I have been playing the game more and I have decided to lower my grade because of the “respawn” system it has. It seems too strange to me to go fourth, beat yourself up and appear second. Furthermore, it is also very strange to be close to other drivers all the time, to go a different route and end up beating them by 10 seconds at the finish line.
