If we travel to the Chinese city of Guangzhou, possibly on the way to the airport we will not see a single homeless person living under a bridge. Officially, no one has put those spikes there; The city government blames the airport managers and they blame the government, arguing that the homeless made bonfires that could be dangerous.
My opinion is that to give travelers an idyllic image of the city “North Korea Style” the simplest solution they found was to put these spikes.
Whoever put them there, one wonders to what extent the miseries of others can be hidden and ignored and at what cost.
