Tras unos dĂas bastante ajetreados con un abundante cruce de emails entre los tĂ©cnicos del hosting y yo ( saber inglĂ©s es importante cuando se habla con gente de habla inglesa ), por fin puedo anunciar que el blog ya se encuentra alojado en el nuevo servidor dedicado para Ă©l sĂłlo. âManhattanâ, que es como llamĂ© al servidor en honor al Dr. Manhattan de Watchmen -mi avatar de Twitter, Gravatar, etc-, porque el año pasado estuve en Nueva York y porque fue uno de los primeros nombres que se me vino a la cabeza.
The characteristics of the server seem quite excessive to me to withstand the pull of the blog (Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz, 2GB of RAM, 10MBs of upload, 160GB of HDD and 1.5TB of transfer.), which although it has quite a few visits could perfectly be hosted on a less powerful one, but from Surpass Hosting they made me âan offer that I could not refuseâ and the I accepted.
The truth is that the only sign of the server move was probably the article I wrote announcing the closure of comments, because the blog was online 100% of the time and the SH technicians made things very easy for me, they moved the files and DBs, and always resolved all my questions (some so stupid that I wouldnât have blamed them if they had slapped me).
Now letâs hope that things work well for a long time and that visits donât plummet. Thanks to everyone who offered to help me with the configuration of Apache (Jaime and Juan, to Kilian for having offered me hosting, to Lolete and Bori for having recommended other hostings, to David for making it clear to me what a TB is). (sorry if I forgot anyone).
As a goal for this new stage, I aim to add many more featured articles to the blog that I am proud of and, at the same time, make them entertaining to read. To be continued⊠whenever.
