Yo siempre he sido de los que querían dejar la cuenta de Adsense en dólares porque mi confianza en el euro ha estado siempre presente, aunque este tuviera un valor superior a la moneda americana. Por eso, cuando Google decidió emitir los pagos de Adsense en euros, intenté por todos los medios dejarlos en dólares, hasta que un día el cambio fue automático y no pude hacer nada para evitarlo.

As you know, at the beginning of the year I moved this blog to a private server because visits were increasing significantly and my hosting company gave me an ultimatum. Until then I was paying about $70 a year for the server and the move was a huge expense in comparison. Neither more nor less than an expense 26 times greater (to save you the calculations, I am currently paying $130 a month). And when a website grows and passes a threshold, maintenance costs skyrocket, making it very difficult to make the decision to move or sacrifice functionalities to avoid taking the leap.
The adventure is going to last less than I expected, because as you know, the euro is in low times and this is getting worse and worse. In fact, in January $130 was equivalent to €90 and now the change is made to €98: a variation of €8 in just 5 months, or in other words, an increase of €1.6 per month.
But this does not only affect those of us who have blogs or websites, it also affects all those who buy in dollars online: on eBay, on Amazon, in China… if the issue continues as before, within 20 months the values of both currencies will be equivalent and we will have to use the “eurozone” to buy.
We will have to start looking for alternatives with such competitive prices close to home, although it is obvious that the VAT increase is not going to help at all. Is the decline of the euro affecting you too?
