Soy de los que se piensan detenidamente cuándo comprar el contenido descargable de un juego, porque la mayoría de las veces tienen precios demasiado altos para lo que ofrecen, que a veces roza lo ridículo. Por suerte, de vez en cuando te encuentras con sorpresas, con expansiones que aportan algo diferente y que valen cada euro de lo que cuestan. Este es el caso de Undead Nightmare, una expansión de Red Dead Redemption publicada el pasado Halloween que mezclaba zombis con el lejano oeste.
Undead Nightmare places us in a New Austin cursed by a plague that turns people who are killed and the dead into bloodthirsty zombies and our mission is to find a solution to this entire apocalypse through missions similar to those of the original game, in which we talk to characters who give us tasks. There is a fairly acceptable variety of enemies, although the Left 4 Dead comparison is inevitable** because the types of zombie are very similar: One fast, one that charges at you with a stream, another that throws acid at you and the normal one, the usual one.
Like Red Dead Redemption, the game is very entertaining and with few exceptions, most of the main missions are quite enjoyable. There are also a series of secondary missions that allow us to delve deeper into the plot and obtain some objects that will make the zombie hunt much more fun, such as mythical creatures or new outfits.
But if there is something that I deeply liked about the expansion, it is its high duration, which can easily be extended up to 8 hours by passing the main missions and some secondary missions, so it does not surprise me in the least that they have decided to publish it independently of the original game.
In short, if you are a fan of the zombie genre, but even if you are not a fan of downloadable content, Undead Nightmare is worth it.
