I’ve been wanting to talk about homeopathy, the power balance of medicines, for a long time. Homeopathy is a product that is sold thanks to people’s ignorance, who confuse it with a medicine despite it being a pseudoscience whose usefulness does not go beyond being a simple placebo. To a certain extent, it is normal that many people confuse it because there are many pharmacies that promote it.
Homeopathy was invented 200 years ago by Samuel Hahnemann as an alternative to the healing methods of that time: purgation and bleeding. Since then it has not changed its application. It is based on the theory that the same substance that causes a disease also cures it, but to do so it must be diluted in water. The more diluted it is, the more powerful the remedy will be. The dilutions are carried out to such an extent that the active ingredient even disappears, so the product becomes… water. To justify the usefulness of homeopathic remedies, despite the vast majority being water, they justify that “water has memory” and remembers all the substances that have been diluted in it, a property that has not been scientifically proven (because they have not been able to).
If you check the composition of a homeopathic remedy, you can see that the composition is still sugar pills. A successful business - and extremely profitable - that can be very dangerous if used to replace conventional medicines.
That homeopathic products are sold in pharmacies is something serious, since they are products that do not pass efficacy tests for the treatments they promise (unlike conventional medications) and can generate a high level of distrust in the pharmacy sector, for putting money before science and scientific methods.
If you know someone who tells you that it has worked for them, you can recommend a crucifix or praying two Our Fathers, which is much cheaper and just as effective.
