Por fin he visto âStar Wars: El despertar de la fuerzaâ y puedo volver sin miedo a Internet. Definitivamente, una extensiĂłn para evitar spoilers no resulta demasiado Ăștil cuando en todas las pĂĄginas se habla de Star Wars, asĂ que aviso que este post contiene spoilers, que siempre es mĂĄs efectivo.
If I had to define âThe Force Awakensâ in a few words, I would say that it is Star Wars for better and worse, with many of its virtues but also with some inevitable defects when what is sought is to create a link between two trilogies, satisfy the hordes of fans and attract new generations. I think J.J. Abrams has managed to maintain the balance between these three pillars in a relatively satisfactory way.
The good thing about fewer and fewer people reading blogs is that I can say that J.J. Abrams seems to me to be a better director than George Lucas without fear of setting the Internet on fire. While it is true that both directors belong to different generations, Abrams makes much more dynamic and well-shot cinema: just compare the rhythm of episodes I-III with âThe Force Awakensâ and also the abuse of makeup and visual effects of both (a clear example that less is more).
The film is not perfect, it has dispensable dialogues that could have been replaced by silent scenes with more dramatic load and it also has many clichĂ©s, such as Han Soloâs last scene - which can be seen coming from afar. If youâve seen all the movies several times, you probably have, like me, a feeling of deja vu, but letâs go back to what we said before: itâs about attracting new generations to the Star Wars universe.
Many elements of the film are left unexplained to give more play to the new expanded universe that Disney will create little by little, something that although it can be an incentive for the most fans or for the kids, it can also leave a void for those of us who are only going to see the movies and little else.
In short, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we are faced with an entertaining film that can be seen and that will surely dazzle the little ones. A film that must be seen knowing in advance that it is the beginning of a new trilogy and that possibly the explanations of many things will be explained in episodes VIII and IX or in the expanded universe.
